When shopping becomes a bit of a challenge

There are days when shopping isn't exactly a quick pleasure. When you head out to find clothing for a conference, with specific themes in mind, you quickly realize that the finds aren't always on point.

Between clothes that are too warm, cuts that don't fit, and shops that don't really help you picture the upcoming season, you can go from hope to a bit of disappointment in just a few aisles. This time, it was mostly winter clothing, even though we were clearly looking for lighter, more summery pieces.

But even if the shopping wasn't super successful, the day certainly was. After all, this kind of outing is also a wonderful opportunity to slow down together, to laugh at the try-ons, and to vow that we'll go back shopping to finally find the right outfit.

A mother-daughter outing that was a success after all

What we take away from this day isn't just the difficulty of finding the right clothes for the conference. It's also the pleasure of having shared this moment together, through the try-ons, the comments and the little “maybe-not” moments that are part of the process.

The shopping didn't give us everything we wanted in the moment, but it still offered what a nice mother-daughter outing can bring: time together, a sense of closeness, and a good reason to try again.

So we head home with a clear idea in mind: to go back shopping, aim a little closer, and hope to find pieces that will finally bridge the gap between the winter we still see everywhere and the summer we'd already like to wear.
